The mission of the Canterbury Community Power Committee (CCPC) is to:
- Maintain membership in the Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire (CPCNH) or a similar regional non-profit electricity buying organization to purchase electric power at lower rates. The majority of residents in Canterbury are automatically enrolled in the Canterbury Community Power program as voted at 2023 Town Meeting.
- Continually educate Canterbury’s residents about power supply choices including suppliers that source a higher percentage of renewable energy than mandated by current New Hampshire law.
- Encourage residents to choose rates that add to Canterbury’s Renewable Energy Capital Reserve Fund.
CCPC will work to achieve its mission by pursuing the following objectives:
- Seek to Provide electricity to Canterbury consumers at lower rates than those offered for default energy service by Unitil and Eversource
- Make recommendations to the select board regarding rate setting and opportunities to use the Renewable Energy Capital Reserve Fund to accomplish the purposes of the fund.
- Collaborate with the Energy Committee when appropriate, to seek funds to install renewable energy, establish electric generation and other innovative energy related systems, advocate for reduction of fossil fuels, and adopt a solar ordinance.
